It was designed by Southern Educator, Nicola Marschall early in 1861.

It was raised over the Confederate Capital in Montgomery, Alabama, on March 4, 1861

3 - How many stars were on the flag that Confederate troops carried into battle ??

Thirteen, representing each seceded state and the secession governments of Kentucky and Missouri.

4 - What was the first ship to fly the  Confederate Flag ??

The CSS Huntress, which survived the War only to sink off Japan in 1869

5 - When was the Confederate flag last lowered. ??

On November 6, 1865, Lieutenant James I. Wadell lowered the flag aboard the CSS Shenandoah at Liverpool, England– bringing down the Confederate flag for the last time.
